A chronicle of the media in the course of timea
The tradition of media monitoring companies or "news collectors", as they were called at the time, dates back to the 19th century. In Europe, the industry originated in London, where the first press clipping service was founded in 1852. The second European media monitoring company, “Argus de la presse”, was established in Paris in 1879.

1896 Foundation of ARUS der Presse AG in Geneva by Ilja Gruenberg.
1947 Zeitungslupe GmbH, acquires ARGUS der Presse AG. The two companies are merged into
one operating under the brand name ARGUS. Its offices are located in the city district of
Zurich-Enge. ARGUS employs about 25 people after the merger.
1967 ARGUS moves to its new offices at 19 Streulistrasse in Zurich.
1978 ARGUS starts to monitor radio and TV broadcasts in addition to print media.
1996 ARGUS der Presse AG celebrates its 100th anniversary.
Introduction of electronic image processing.
2000 Ralph Brechlin becomes CEO of ARGUS der Presse AG.
2001 Start Internet-Monitoring. With the introduction of the Internet-Monitoring,
ARGUS processes all existing information channels and offers the most comprehensive
media selection nationwide.
2003 Introduction of the interactive work platform Clipping Management Online (CMO).
The indispensable tool for media and public relations management makes its entry
to the offices of ARGUS customers.
2007 Offices are moved to the ARGUS-House at 15 Ruedigerstrasse in Zuerich.
